The Period God

Project Website

This project inspired by a vernacular spiritual figure in contemporary China: “姨妈神” (Period God). Gaining popularity through social media, she is worshipped by female internet users who call upon her to bring menstruation when it is delayed. Despite her growing influence, there exists no visual representation of her image.
Our work envisions the Period God and creates a ritual of worship, culminating in a dance through which she delivers menstruation to the believer. The music, composed by us, mimics the sound and movement of blood, emphasizing its liquidity and vitality.
This piece challenges traditional notions of divinity, where gods are often distant and authoritative. Instead, we imagine a reciprocal relationship between Period God and her believer—one based on circulation, care, and embodiment. The Period God does not command from above; she arrives through the body, through flow, through the blood.
We also confront the stigma around menstruation and the female body through striking visual elements centered on “red” and “blood.” Periods are often hidden, silenced, or treated with shame in society. Through our art, we hope they could be seen, heard, and celebrated.

Metanoia takes place in a world where AI dominates, and people live behind digital masks, trapped in a flat, data-driven reality. The protagonist finds comfort only at home, the one place that still feels real. But as the digital world starts invading her sanctuary, she fights to break free. Her journey leads her through struggle, transformation, and ultimately, a dance that flows with raw emotion—standing in stark contrast to the rigid AI world. At its core, the film captures the spirit of "Dance in Life", where movement becomes a symbol of freedom, self-expression, and the unbreakable essence of being human.

Motion Graphics & Kinetic Wearable Piece

The project is satirical as a tool to critique the contemporary censorship prevalent in our society, particularly within the realms of culture and media. By employing a combination of product showcasing, including a Marketing Video, an AR Filter, and a Kinetic Wearable Piece, it offers a multi-dimensional commentary on the restrictive nature of modern censorship.

L.D.S(Lights, Dance, Simulation)

L.D.S. (Lights, Dance, Simulation) is a video art piece that explores the fractured identity of the digital subject in an age of aesthetic recursion. Inspired by retro techno, Kraftwerk, FEMM, Balenciaga, and the abstract geometries of Paul Klee, the piece operates as a kind of digital cubism, where bodies, gestures, and references are broken apart, flattened, and reassembled into something both uncanny and seductive.

The video centers on a procession of suited male figures, anonymous, synchronized, endlessly looped. They dance not out of joy, but obligation, their movements are mechanized, awkward, hyper-stylized. Their presence evokes both corporate uniformity and cybernetic rebirth, echoing the cultural residue of late capitalism, boy bands, and androids.

L.D.S. is a meditation on simulation, repetition, and aesthetic failure as a form of liberation. It asks: what does it mean for something to look “bad” or “good” when those terms have collapsed under the weight of irony and overexposure? Can rawness, awkwardness, even ugliness, be a form of truth in an over-produced world?

By blending fashion with low-fidelity, vintage with synthetic, L.D.S. invites viewers into a liminal space where time folds, identity fragments, and meaning glitches.

Good Enough

Unity & Physical Computing

Work with Sky Seo

This artwork symbolizes internal pressure. It reflects the idea that achieving our goals requires a certain amount of inner pressure to drive us forward. However, too much or too little pressure can become an obstacle to success. The balloon represents our goals, while the air filling it symbolizes the internal pressure needed to realize those aspirations. The project integrates Arduino and Unity to create an interactive experience, allowing the audience to control Unity animations of Balloon inflation through an Arduino potentiometer. Using our custom-made inflator, balloons on the screen are filled until they reach a certain size and then released. If a balloon is released before reaching the specified size, it will deflate. If it exceeds the specified size, the balloon will burst.

Fragments of Us

Immersive Experience

Role: TouchDesigner, Projection

Fragments of Us is an immersive experience through our collective dream space that you can walk through and activate.
Fragment of Us is an installation that explores shared dreams and memories. Visitors are invited to make their way into a physical space that represents collective memories and feelings of nostalgia. As they enter the core, they trigger sequences of emotional reactions and memories. The space responds to and reflects the unconscious influence we have on one another, exploring the fragile, often unseen threads that bind us together.

Research Project

Is there a culture in this world created by women, for women, and belongs solely to them? As we pondered this question, Nüshu(女书) emerged in our research—a script unlike any other, the only known writing system in history designed and used exclusively by women. Yet, it stands on the brink of extinction. For centuries, women in Jiangyong County, Hunan Province, were excluded from formal education and denied literacy in the dominant Chinese script. In response, they created Nüshu—a secret language of solidarity, resilience, and self-expression. Written in delicate, rhomboidal characters on paper, textiles, and embroidery, Nüshu allowed women to document their stories, communicate in private, and carve out a space of intellectual and emotional freedom in a world that often silenced them. It was a quiet defiance against the prevailing power structures. When we asked those around us if they had ever heard of Nüshu, the answer was almost always no. This realization made our mission clear: to make Nüshu visible once more. In this project, we created personalized name cards inscribed in Nüshu for our classmates and professors in the Becoming Visible course. A name is one’s second face—a symbol of identity. Offering a name card, introducing oneself, and writing one’s name are all acts of becoming visible. Through this process, we hope to bring Nüshu back into the light, to give voice to a culture crafted by women, and to ensure that it is seen, remembered, and celebrated.

Subway Peril

Immersive Experience

"Subway Peril" is an immersive interactive experience based on my personal story and emotions encountered while commuting in the New York City subway system as an Asian girl. This experience gives the participants senses of anxiety, nervousness, and vulnerability that often accompany the journey of finding one's footing in a city that can initially feel alien. This experience contains the interaction between camera and animation, audio reactive video made by TouchDesigner, ambiance sound design, and set design.
